Welcome to the September 2021 edition of the EddieHub Newsletter!
September is often associated with the start of new things: the seasons are changing, and for many it represents "back to school". What does September mean to you? Are you starting a new path in your career or studies? Have you set yourself a challenge to learn something new? It might even be preparing yourself for a month-long participation in Hacktoberfest! If you haven't heard about Hacktoberfest then take a look below.
For me, September has marked the return of in-person events (since February 2020), as I attended and spoke at the CityJS/HalfStack conference in London.
Are you ready for Hacktoberfest?
Hosted by DigitalOcean for the 8th year in a row, Hacktoberfest encourages participation in giving back to the open source community by completing pull requests, participating in events, and donating to open source projects.
At EddieHub have some exciting ideas planned for Hacktoberfest so click on the button below if you want to keep updated.
Learning and sharing in public is super important! Why?
1. You will get feedback and help;
2. Your network will grow;
3. Your involvement in the community will increase.

Volunteering Opportunity!
Code Hub is a program for children and young people aged 7 to 18 where they can learn a variety of programming languages such as Scratch, HTML/CSS, Javascript and Python through fun activities and projects - all led by volunteers. If you have a UK address and want to apply to become a remote instructor, then click the button below for more information.
Here is Xico and Ginja in the background! They belong to Sara Jaoude's parents and became Eddie and Sara's faithful companions for the three months they spent in Portugal. Xico will allow anyone into the house...but letting them leave is a different story. Ginja's favorite pastime is eating - especially hand fed treats!
