Welcome to the October 2022 edition of the EddieHub Newsletter!
I really wanted this month's edition to be all about Hacktoberfest! It is not too late to join and give back to the Open Source community. I hope this Newsletter inspires you to sign up and also gives you ideas as to what projects to contribute to!
Eddie's thought of the month
Get real World experience during Hacktoberfest
Hacktoberfest
October is a great time to get started or step up your Open Source contributions! In this month-long event, participating projects will support you in this goal.
automation with GitHub Actions are some of the ways in which you can get more contributors and stars not just for Hacktoberfest, but in the long run.
Getting started with GitHub can be scary, with all the new terminologies (such as 'fork', 'push' and 'upstream'. I will take you through the anatomy of a GitHub Repo so that you can understand how you can effectively contribute and also make your Repo stand out.
Do you want your Open Source contributions to help improve the project? In this video I will show you the automated tests in the EddieHub Good First Issue Finder Repo, which has skeleton tests for you to fill in - in the same way as NASA has done it.
This event is all about Modern Web, Web Apps, Apps & the frameworks, libraries, browsers, tools, platforms, databases, APIs and everything else that powers them up behind the scenes. And Eddie will be speaking!
